What is the Martinist Order ?

The Martinist Order is open to Men and Women of Desire and good will.
An independent initiatory organization, the Martinist Order is not under the supervision of any political, ideological, religious, or thought organization. Since 1962, the Martinist Order has been a non-profit organization and complies with the laws in force in the countries where it is established.
The Martinist Order is an initiatory group with a philosophical and mystical method.
The Martinist Order works regularly in meetings and face-to-face meetings, both individually and in groups, and develops a line of inspiration on which each intelligence must work according to its possibilities.
The Martinist Order contributes essentially to the advent of a world where spiritual values must have their true place, outside of any racial, ideological, political questions, or any religious formation.
The Martinist Order demands the greatest tolerance and the broadest spirit of understanding, which must be de rigueur.
In accordance with the directives of Louis Claude de Saint Martin, and those later of Papus, Woman is admitted to absolute equality with Man, one being the complement of the other.
The Martinist Order is for all, a line of individual and collective improvement. It must therefore aim to be composed only of perfect Servants and successors of the teaching of the true Masters who preceded us.

The organization of the Martinist Order

In order to comply with the regulations concerning non-profit Associations, governed by the 1901 law, the Martinist Order is administratively supported by the Martinist Association (A.M.) which takes care of the administrative part of the Initiatory Order itself: insurance, financial management, various files, material organization of annual Conventions, mandatory General Assemblies, declarations to the Prefecture, among other official administrative documents, etc.

Initiatory work in the Martinist Order

The means of the Martinist Order

The soul in search of the absolute

As Louis-Claude de Saint-Martin points out in Ecce Homo: “The soul of man is made to embrace in its thought all the works that the principle of things has allowed to emerge from its bosom.”

A modern and accessible Martinism

Today, Martinism stands out from past forms. In the digital age, the rituals, symbols, and knowledge of initiatory orders are easily accessible through a few clicks or printed works.

The initiatory secret: the space between the initiate and the symbol

However, the real secret lies in the space of inner transformation that is created between the initiate and the symbol, a process that the Martinist Order strives to support and nourish.

The spiritual path: between solitude and sharing

The spiritual path is often difficult and solitary, because the "unfolding of one's being" is a deeply personal process. To alleviate this solitude, the Martinist Order offers collective spaces where members can share and exchange in a fraternal setting. These group meetings allow members to broaden their knowledge, compare different points of view, and experience a spirituality enriched by interaction.

Martinist philosophy

A Martinist Group promotes a philosophy, a mystique, and a working method that combines individual reflection and collective collaboration. Members learn to give and receive in a spirit of mutual respect.

Practical tools of the Martinist Order

  • Monthly Meetings: Held in cities where a Group is active, these meetings follow a precise and consistent ritual derived from our Tradition.

  • Progressive Initiations: Spread over several degrees, they validate entry into the Martinist chain and allow participants to participate in ritual meetings.

  • Study of Symbols: Through reflection or meditation, symbols guide initiates toward inner and spiritual understanding.
  • The notebooks

For members of the Martinist Association (up-to-date with their dues) who are not affiliated with any Group or Circle (which does not prevent other members from benefiting from them), but who wish to receive teachings and share Martinist values, notebooks have been developed.

They address themes of traditional, primarily Western, esotericism.

Each Notebook addresses a specific theme. A presentation, accompanied by references, provides the member with food for thought. Questions then allow them to reflect on their own approach in light of these themes.

These questions and thoughts are written down and then sent to a secretariat responsible for establishing a link between the members concerned. Because the student is not alone (this is the original purpose of these notebooks); He is accompanied in these reflections by a correspondent, who remains anonymous and helps him broaden his vision through kind comments and contributions.

These exchanges are not "lectures" or "corrections," but rather allow for an appropriation of Martinism. They allow a sense of belonging to a larger structure to emerge, while encouraging personal reflection.

    The Torch

The magazine "Le Flambeau" is distributed by mail to every household where there is a member of the Martinist Order, in the form of a paper booklet.

This magazine is published 4 to 5 times a year. It is primarily composed of articles from members, each article being edited under the responsibility of the author and not of the magazine or the Order.

Each member is free to contribute to this magazine. Contributions are not always presentations that have been presented in the Groups, adapted to the magazine format; they can be letters, poems, analyses of books or articles, testimonials, or simple "thoughts."

A reading committee decides whether the articles submitted to it should be published.
