Welcome to the official website of the Martinist Order

The Martinist order is a non-dogmatic movement, with a spiritual aim, created by Papus (Doctor Gérard Encausse) in 1887. The Order is independent of any other order or initiatory organization, church, political party or philosophical association.

Introduction

Founded in 1887 by Papus, the Martinist Order is an independent spiritual organization that draws its essence from the Primordial Tradition and the thought of Louis-Claude de Saint-Martin, also known as the "Unknown Philosopher." This movement offers a path of inner transformation, accessible to those seeking a balance between spirituality and modernity. Its approach is distinguished by its lack of dogmatism and its openness to a free and personal exploration of the great existential questions.

Through a process of initiation, the in-depth study of symbolism, and a ritual practice based on ethical and humanist principles, the Martinist Order invites its members to discover the profound connections that unite God, Man, and Nature.

This spiritual quest, known as the "Cardiac Way," emphasizes the heart, a symbol of inner wisdom and spiritual receptivity, as a path to a deeper understanding of the divine.

In a constantly evolving world, the Martinist Order offers a spirituality adapted to contemporary challenges while honoring the timeless wisdom of its traditions. Through this balance, it strives to guide individuals toward a personal journey imbued with ethics, reflection, and universal consciousness.

The goals set by the Order since its creation:

  • The awakening and transformation of man, by means of a spirituality stemming from the primordial Tradition, as transmitted to us by Louis-Claude de Saint-Martin and Papus, in forms adapted to our modern world.

  • A practical application, based on ethical and humanist principles, opening onto the “Heart Path”.
  • The means implemented:

  • Initiation, accompanied by the study of the symbolism specific to Martinism as well as so-called traditional symbolism.

  • Participation in ritual meetings within Groups and in the activities of the Order.

  • Esotericism (primarily in the Christian tradition) and the philosophy of Nature, the source of the thought of Louis Claude de Saint-Martin.
  • Who can become a Martinist?

Any adult man or woman of good will, driven by a sincere desire to evolve spiritually and work for a better world, to the best of their ability.

It is not a matter of making the spiritual plane a world apart, distinct from the rest of the personality (individuality), but of collaborating in its development toward a more complete, full, and whole humanity, ensuring that the visible and invisible parts of the human being, body and psyche, are in harmony with the spirit. In other words, the Martinist Order is open to the individual seeking a better quality of existence, a sense of meaning, an art of living in peace with themselves and with their fellow human beings.
    « I have God, I have a soul, nothing more is needed… »

    Activities of the Martinist Order

It is during collective times that a given organization will externalize its own identity.

Not being a "secret society," all non-ritual gatherings of the Martinist Order are open to non-members (friends, family), that is, to radiate into the world, without concern for concealment, but with the desire to share.

The Order thus has gathering times where only those who, objectively, wish to bear witness to their state participate.
